Introduction
When you first enter Albion Online, you step into a world of endless possibilities. With so much in front of you, it can be difficult to know exactly where to begin, and Albion has many activities that might not be immediately visible.
To help you get the best possible start, we've compiled some beginner-level activities and personal goals to introduce you to the main game mechanics and prepare you to explore everything the game has to offer. Getting to know each of these activities will help you progress much faster and become who you want to be in Albion.
👣 Getting Started
Your first goal as a new player is to travel to a Royal City. There are five in Albion, one in each biome:
Bridgewatch
Steppe
Lymhurst
Forest
Martlock
Highlands
Thetford
Swamp
Fort Sterling
Mountain
Quick Tip
As soon as you can, leave your Starter City and head to the nearest Royal City, two zones away, which you can find by opening the World Map (shortcut: M).
Each city has a bank to store items, a Marketplace to buy and sell goods, and many other benefits for your first adventures.
Earning Fame
Fame is Albion Online's version of experience points, and earning Fame unlocks more powerful weapons and gear. There are several ways to earn Fame:
Combat Fame
Earned by killing monsters, unlocks higher-tier weapons and armor
Gathering Fame
Earned by gathering resources, unlocks higher-tier gathering tools
Crafting Fame
Earned by crafting and refining, unlocks higher-tier crafting recipes
Track Your Progress
You can view your progress in all these areas in the Destiny Board (press B), which is Albion's skill tree.

Combat Objectives for Your First Days
1 Get Tier 4 Equipment
When you start using a Tier 4 weapon, you'll gain access to many new abilities and be able to take on greater challenges. Killing monsters with a weapon of your choice will grant you Combat Fame for that weapon until you unlock the ability to use its Tier 4 version.
Albion Online has a weapon for every playstyle. Here are some fun weapons you might want to try:
- Dual Swords
- Battleaxe
- Bow
- Fire Staff
For more equipment suggestions, check out our Basic Builds guides here.
Useful tips
- • Try out different weapons in the city to find your ideal playstyle
- • Don't underestimate the importance of off-hand equipment like healing potions
2 Venture into Yellow Zones
After equipping yourself with Tier 4 gear, head to the Yellow Zones. Yellow Zones are still very safe but offer much more Fame and content than Blue Zones.
Player versus Player (PvP) combat can occur here, but don't be afraid: defeat will only knock you down (not kill you) and damage your items (which you can repair in a city's Workshop for a modest fee). You won't lose any possessions!
3 Defeat Roaming Monsters and Clear Monster Camps
In the open world, you'll encounter Roaming Monsters that literally wander the world instead of staying in camps. While they can be quite challenging, they offer large amounts of Fame. This will help you level up your equipment and become even stronger, while also honing your combat skills.
Another fun activity are Dynamic Camps: temporary monster camps that appear in random locations in Tier 5+ regions, available in both solo and group versions. If you earn enough Fame by killing monsters in one of these, you'll unlock a Chest containing valuable loot.
4 Explore the Mists and Find the City of Brecilien
While exploring the open world, keep an eye out for curious Wisps. If you follow them, they'll open a Portal to the Mists, a magical region filled with Roaming Monsters, Monster Camps, resources, mythical creatures, and much more.
Completing certain tasks in the Mists, such as freeing captured Wisps, will increase your Reputation in the city of Brecilien. Reach a high enough Reputation and you'll be able to discover a portal that will take you to the city itself...
Economic Objectives for Your First Days
1 Upgrade Your Gathering Tools
There are 5 different resources in Albion, each with its own gathering profession in the Destiny Board. Every time you gather a material, you'll earn Gathering Fame and progress in the corresponding profession.
Learning Points, which allow you to accelerate your progress in any node of the Destiny Board, can be especially beneficial for leveling up your gathering skills.
When you reach a new level in a profession, you can buy a better tool and gather higher-tier materials. As a personal goal, you should try to get at least a Tier 4 tool early on.
Tip:
Eating a Pork Pie will significantly increase your gathering yield and carrying capacity for 30 minutes.
2 Craft Equipment and Sell It
You can take the materials you've gathered and refine them at the appropriate Crafting Station in a city. You can also buy the materials you need from the Market to craft equipment.
There are 3 types of stations for weapons and armor (Warrior's Forge, Hunter's Lodge, Mage's Tower). Each has tabs for weapons, armor, and a third tab for studying. Studying allows you to gain additional Crafting Fame from an unwanted item, but destroys it in the process.
The Toolmaker lets you craft and study accessories like bags, capes, and tools.
You can then use the items you've crafted yourself or sell them on the Market.
The Albion Journal
The Albion Journal is a feature that tracks your in-game progress while rewarding you for achieving specific objectives as you advance.
Press J to open it, or access it through the Activities menu.
The Albion Journal provides quests for nearly all activities in Albion, offering rewards for completing each one. These quests serve as clear, achievable goals in the early stages of the game, gradually evolving into high-level achievements as you progress.
You can track up to three quests of your choice in the HUD, or have the game automatically suggest quests that match your play level.
The Albion Journal is an excellent way to measure your progress in the early game, while also providing a means to earn extra Fame or Silver to further assist you.

Additional Tips
You Don't Need to Craft Everything Yourself
You'll likely find the equipment and tools you need for your journey on Albion's player-driven market. While being self-sufficient can save you silver early on, it can also cost you valuable time.
Upgrade Your Mount When You Can Afford It
A T3 Horse is a fast companion that can get you from point A to B quickly, while an Ox can help you transport large loads of resources or items.
Albion Online's Market is Player-Driven
If you sell an item directly, you're fulfilling another player's Buy Order. If you create a Sell Order, another player must choose to buy it. Be careful when selling your items to avoid losing Silver!

Group Play
If you're alone, you're strong; if you're with others, you're unstoppable. Albion offers many activities for solo players, but there are even more once you start teaming up with others.
Faction Warfare
Once you have Tier 4 gear, you can start fighting in Faction Warfare. Find the Faction Warfare Master in one of the Royal Cities to enlist and earn valuable rewards. In Red, Yellow, and Blue Zones, you can fight against players from other factions and capture or defend Faction Outposts. Your contributions to the cause will earn you points that you can use to buy special items from the Faction Warfare Master.
Compete in the Arena and Crystal Arena
Albion has two non-lethal 5v5 Arena modes. The Arena is the casual version, while the Crystal Arena is more competitive, with rankings. Sign up for one of these modes and win a match to earn rewards!
To join an Arena battle, just select Arena from the Activities menu.
Join a Guild
Being part of a guild opens up a ton of content, gives you access to the knowledge and guidance of others, and keeps you safer in Albion's riskier — but more rewarding — regions.
Albion Online features an in-game Guild Finder, making it easy to find a welcoming and beginner-friendly guild. Check out our guide here and go find your comrades!
